So much more than a “Vendor”…
Our Partner approached us looking to find a supplier for a coil they had been working on for an agricultural application. We met and took a fresh look at the entire system and assembly method. We looked at the magnetic circuit and used our proprietary MathCAD and FEMM software to select the material and tune the design for their specific needs. The final design resulted in less expensive overall product offering a simpler, more efficient solenoid that eliminated the need for their secondary power supply and reduced the number of assembly workers from six all the way down to one person.

When we say “Partner” we mean it…
Our partner came to us looking to replace one of the most expensive components of their system, the solenoid valve. They wanted to reduce their costs so they could branch out into a higher-volume, cost conscious segment of their market. They were buying an off-the-shelf solenoid that was modified to fit in their system and could not get any design assistance from the vendor. The existing solenoid required constant disassembly and cleaning to operate. To add insult to injury, the valve was also the limiting factor in the speed (cycles per second) of the entire system.
As it turns out, our partner had core competencies in metal part machining. We suggested that they produce the screw machine parts and send them to us, to reduce the costs even further. Our customer was now our supplier, talk about a partnership!
After hours of collaborative engineering between out partners’ Engineering department and our own; the final design is a solenoid mounted directly to their circuit board (reducing size requirements), with an extremely quick response time (it can cycle 5 times faster than the previous design, up to a 100 times per second!), it works on a 9V battery (the design was optimized to reduce the power consumption), and operates on compressed gases (requiring special materials to be compatible).
Armed with their new solenoid valve, our partner was able to penetrate their market and send their competitors reeling. They went from selling 15,000 units a year to more than 15,000 units a MONTH. The entire design has been patented and now ensures that they will remain a leader in their industry for years to come.
